    Kentucky Boys 10th District Championship

Well, the North HS boys won their 13th straight district tournament last night. This is the last year for our North and South HS. Next year they will be merged into one HS for the county. North has played for the regional championship every year that they have won the district but haven't won it since 2000. They are the number one team in the region and have a great chance to go to Rupp Arena this year. I'm looking forward to shooting in Rupp again, it's a great place to be this time of the year.

These were shot with the Nikon D70s at 1/250, ISO 640, Single Point Focus, Centerweighted metering.
Strobes used are 2 Sunpak 383s at 1/2 power clamped to the railings 10 rows up off of the corners of the baseline and aimed to cross 10 feet over the free throw line.

Ain't tournament time great!!! I'll shoot the regionals next week but skipped the district this year. My home team hasn't been to Rupp since 1998 but we did play on Saturday morning and anytime you get three games in Rupp during the State you have had a great year.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Yes it is Larry! With the consolidation coming next year everyone has high hopes for the North boys this year. With 6 seniors, and given the fact that they've beaten all of the other top teams in the region, by all rights they should do well. But it always gets down to the same thing, they have to "bring it" every night. Since we don't class BB in KY I personally think it's the greatest show in HS sports. Some of the best, most hard fought games I have ever witnessed were in the tournaments here.

I have to agree. I attended my first KY State Tournament in 1962. A guy by the name of Mike Redd along with his junior teammate Wesley Unseld were the class of the show that year. Clem Haskins made a little splash as well. The boys from old Lexington Dunbar with Bobby Washington hung around for a while as well that year.
