    Junior (U16) DH MTB

Sharing a couple of shots of the Juniors in action.

    The shots were taken with a 400D and a 50mm f/1.8 lens.

Need to practice some more, pointers on how to deal with a fixed lens will be appreciated.

It looks like it was a cloudy day? What ISO did you use?

I think these shots are fantastic...just a tad dark on my end...but that could be my monitor....

    Great action...

ISO 100 and speeds between 1/500 and 1/1000 at f/1.8.

i can never understand how people can feel comfortable flying down hills on a platform pedal. It must just be a personal thing though.

    Were you manually focussing?
    Pre-focussed on one spot?
    Or autofocussing?

152 - soft (focus on rocks left foreground)
    153 - sharp
155 - soft (focus on back wheel)
    151 - sharp

The Canon 50mm isn't a fast focussing lens, so it may be it can't handle the motion. In which case using fixed focus and timing the shot as the bike reaches it may be the best option.
