I love that one looking straight down from the cliff. Is that a shot you'd seen before or did you see that angle yourself? That's a good one. I'd love to see that shot with the whole peleton hammering through.

That locale, The Rowena Loops is heavily used for all sorts of photo and video shoots. I have no idea if that's an original angle, or not I just looked over the edge and found a way to frame everything up in a way I liked. Unfortunately the road is used as a time trial venue, because it's short and parts of it are motor vehicle restricted. The road is also very narrow and not well suited to pack racing.. It would look very cool with the entire peloton wrapped around the loops.

Here's an angle that shows more of the entire layout. The road then doubles back on itself and under here I'm standing to make the first image possible.

Doesn't matter what camera you're shooting with if you have a creative eye. Great job.

great pictures! #3 and the last one are my favorite. In the first one the riders look a bit out of focus but still a great shot. Really dig all of them. makes me wanna get my roadbike back. very good job!

I wasn't 100% on the first one myself, it was dark and it's a crop, but I liked the overall atmosphere so I kept it.

edit: I just looked the RAW and yes #1 is out. I can't find exactly where my AF decided focus should have been but it definitely missed. There is some subject movement that was unavoidable as well... I shows what one can miss when doing post on a deadline in the middle of the night, on the road......

As far as proving my sig line, I get so many people asking about gear while I'm working , and hearing the same "yeah this ... ... isn't as good as that .." response that I just had to say it somewhere. I will admit that there is still a healthy portion of what I have to acknowledge as luck in my shooting... Always learning.

Luck counts. And some people are better at having luck on their side than others. You might even call that a talent

Congratulations on the well-deserved Featured Photo, Chris! We probably need to make more of an effort to inform people when their photos get chosen

By the way, I posted a link to this thread on the PhotographyREVIEW.com Facebook page.
