How to stop the Dunk!!

I saw the newest coaching technique on how to stop the dunk tonight. I think this will catch on.

I was at a girls game tonight where they got so desperate they turned to tackling the opponents. Between the 3rd and 4th quarters the AD brought out a football and handed it to the ref at center court, he handed it to the girl inbounding the ball, she suddenly realized it didn't feel right , looked at the ball and started laughing....so did everyone in the gym! Somehow they spread the fouls out enough that not one girl fouled out. It was the only funny thing at this game as the home team was blown out.

That is really funny that you would say that. My wife who is usually up in the stands was sitting with me last night at the game under the basket. She had never been this close to the action and she turned to me half way though the 1st half and said, "I didn't realize what a contact sport basketball was till tonight."

I have seen better hip checks at girls high school basketball than I have in hockey games, and some girls who should play football too...they can tackle!



Hey SmartWombat, wanna work for me tomorrow night? I have 6 games to shoot in 2 1/2 - 3 hours
I start at one school, take a few shots of the 7th grade girls game, go across the street, take a few 6th,7th, 8th grade wrestling shots. From there drive 8 miles south shoot a few minutes of the 7th grade boys county toruney, leave there and drive 8 miles to a boys high school game, take a few shots and head 13 miles south to another boys game, and if possible sneak a few shots of the girls 8th grade game at the first school too

Gee whiz John. That's one full night. Just because you're forced into a little vacation with that shoulder doesn't mean you have to kill your self leading up to the surgery.

Ummm, I think it's the papers way of saying "we need you, don't pull that again". Even better, the weekly, which uses all the middle school stuff will be short their editor from Friday through next Thursday because he's going on vacation.

Well OT, I survived the torture test last night... but as usual, my plans got switched at the last second. How the night went:

5:25pm Arrived at the Intermediate school for 7th grade girls basketball game. going in I knew something was up as the 8th grade coach was in the hall. I find out that the 6th graders are playing here and the 7th and 8th grade are at the high school auxillary gym at 6pm. I have to be at two other schools at 6pm though....scratch those two tonight

5:30pm - shoot a few shots of the 6th graders

5:45pm drive 1/4 mile to the middle school - shoot a few wrestling shots (making certain to get a couple good shots of a police officers kid - may need his help someday! )

6:02pm Drive 9 miles to a high school
6:14 - block a police car in an go shoot some high school girls basketball
6:29 pm - fly 15 miles west to another middle school for county basketball tourney (7th and 8th grade)
6:42 pm arrive at the school (12 minutes driving 15 miles )
Walk in and the 3rd quarter is ending

7:00pm - the game ends with the local boys 7th graders winning the championship - get my championships shots and head out the door.
7:15 arrive at another high school to shoot girls basketball.

So I shot 6th grade girls basketball, wrestling, hs girls basketball, 7th grade boys basketball and another hs girls game, and was at 5 different shcools in just 2 hours! The last game I shot the whole game, getting done and leaving the school at 9:00pm, got home at 9:30 (drove the speed limit ) then dumped the photos to the computer and went through them, had em emailed and was done at 11:00pm!

And I wonder why I am so tired now.... hahaha

Well, because I couldn't get to the girls 7th and 8th grade games in last night I have to shoot them Saturday morning starting at 9am and 10am, then I have a game at 8pm at the other end of the county. I'll shoot half of it and drive to another town just to see a game with one of the states top small schools, just to have a chance to see them.
