    A hit....

My son pitched for his old team on Saturday. Defense was horrible and they didn't have a hit until the end of the game. This is it.

I colorized it because the background is so horrible at this field & I do like the affect.

    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.

I like the processing... It's about the players and game, not the surroundings... Nice way to emphasize that...

Like the "clear the mechanism" shot in the movie.... Blur out everything else, and focus...

This is a nice shot JETA and for me the selective coloring works. The ball does get lost a bit in the background. Was that colored, as it seems to match the color of the background.

    Thanks Jim.

Nope, the ball is in color. It's moving fast so the stitching is next to impossible to see. Maybe I'll try and up the reds and saturate it a bit and see if that helps.

    Re: A hit....

Jim, here it is heavily saturated. In full size it looks like too much, but being this photo is small to post here it's hard to see.

    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.

    Re: A hit....

Very nice JETA, I love the colorization as well. It makes the focus of the photo jump out so well, yet the B&W background gives that "frozen in time" kind of look.

I'm usually not a big fan of selective color, but your image manipulation is very effective. Nice going JETA.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

i agree with OT. Generally I don't like selective color, but the colors work well here.

    Re: A hit....

Nice use of selective coloring, JETA. I'm a fan of the gaussian blur, and I think this would stand out even more had you put a smidge of blur on the bg. Of course, that's just me.

    Re: A hit....

This is nice... you might want to warm the bg a bit though so the colours don't overwhelm the image.

    Re: A hit....

Awesome idea. Thank you for the inspiration JETA. I had a bunch of shots from T-Ball with very distracting backgrounds and I had no idea what to do with them until I saw this thread. I thank you, the parents thank you and the kids in the shots thank you too.
