    Heads Up!

Despite the large number of hockey games I've seen.. when I'm looking through the camera, the following STILL makes me duck sometimes

The narrow view through the viewfinder, even if I keep an eye open, still can be a bit startling ;) all 5 of us (only I had a camera) jumped on this one, including the goal judge when it smacked the glass right in front of us.

Nice! I would duck, too! Do they have camera ports in the glass where you shoot? I've always wondered how often cameras / photographers do get hit via those ports and what kind of damage it does.

    Re: Heads Up!

Nope.. no camera ports at any area arenas.. not even the new $80 million Amsoil Arena in Duluth. We begged but they didn't do it. If there were camera cut-outs I wouldn't shoot through the glass usually, unless for special shots.

As for damage.. there was a guy last year who got pegged in the face.. a goaltender shot the puck off the glass, or intended to and made a hole in one instead.. took it to the face instead of the camera taking it
