Love the snag on the first one. As usual first class images.

Love the sharpness of the 1st one and the action. It looks like it was a tough catch. The second one is awesome as it appears he is looking at you while making the tackle.

    Good job...

What was your set up for these??

That first one is good, just wish you had all of the feet in, it's a great catch.

I so appreciate your info on these shots, which are amazing btw....

When you shoot with flash how do you handle the fps?

I always marvel and give huge accolades to anyone who hand holds a 300mm f/2.8! I don't think I could do it. That and the cost are what keep me from buying this lens.

Do you use two bodies? One for the 300mm and one for the 70-200?
    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.

I shoot at one frame at a time so the FPS really doesn't come into play. I just really try to anticipate the action so I can get the shot I need. I do have another body with a 70-200 2.8L on it but I have my son shoot with it so so I have two cameras going at one time. I usually have him concentrate on one thing such as a QB, or a tight end. etc., that I need a shot of.

The hand holding of that lens can get to you but I prefer it over a monopod when shooting football. I generally use one when I shoot soccer though.

    Re: Friday night lights

were you using a flash when you shot the posted photos? I am new at this and have a Canon xti and just got a canon 70-200 2.8 lens. Any advice other than get a more expensive camera body?

Yuppers. I have an onboard Canon 550EX speedlight set to ETTL which gives me a 1/250 sync shutter speed. I think the sync speed on the xti may be 1/200 so you may have to make some adjustments to your flash output.
