Friday Day and Night HS Football

This time of year many times you will start a Friday night football game in daylight and shot much of the first half in light that varied greatly, many time with bright sun and shadows across the field. During the first half to combat this situation I shot in aperture priority with the D700 and a Nikkor 300 f4. Last shot was with the D2h and Nikkor 80-200 f2.8.

In the second half I put the 80-200 on the D700 and shot mostly in manual at 1/500 and f2.8. I varied the ISO from 1600 to 3200 to compensate for the lighting situation here in the second half. Two very different shooting situations in the same game.

Very nice, Crisp and clean snaps. For the second half images did you do some PP like noise reduction and then sharpening? Just curious as some of the players facial featues have that look to them. Not that they're bad shots, it just looks like you did some work and I was curious what you did.

Thanks Chris. Yes there was some PP done on the night images. A little Neat Image applied and sharping as well. Most all the night shots were at 3200 or 2500 ISO.

I really like the second photo in the second set, good action of course, but good story in there too.
