Which flash/speedlight can you recommend?

Which flash/speedlight can you recommend for sports?
(Mountain biking, supercross, basketball)

Depending on your budget go with the canon 430EXII or the 580EXII. I have used both for MTN bike shots in the dark Pacific NW.

I try to find ones that sync at faster than 1/250, and carry a large guide number. That way I get the most light thrown over the largest distances. I shoot Nikon so I go with an SB-800. I work pro cycling, so distance coverage is a primary concern.
