Finally got one!

A Canon 70-200 f/4 L, that is! Or I should say, I've purchased it anyway. A reputable seller on eBay had one New In Box that I picked up for $505 incl. shipping, which is almost $100 savings over retail. I'm hoping it arrives by the weekend, because if it does, it will get a good break-in at the next Autocross event on Sunday.

In the mean time, sorry I've been pretty MIA on here; I've been keeping very busy. I went straight from finals to my brother's graduation in Auburn, and from there to work full time at a law firm for the summer. But I've been doing a fair bit of photo stuff in between.

Here's some shots from my brother's soccer game. All with the 50mm, all shot in jpeg, most cropped at least some. The game was at noon on a very bright day and the lighting shows it.

I think the shutter speed here was around 1/1250 and he still kicks hard enough to get motion blur.

Yeah the 70-200 is a wonderful range for a lens, very versatile you will fall in love. Speaking of love... that first shot is right on. Congrats on that summer job by the way.

I shot soccer a couple of times and it was one of the more difficult sports. You make it look easy.

Wow, thanks JETA, that is the ultimate compliment. I will say that I think it helps a lot that I have played soccer. It gives you the instinct to know where a player is likely to go, or when he's going to do something.

I just got the notification that the lens shipped today via USPS Priority, which states 2-3 days. Knowing them, it'll probably be here Monday. Grrr. We'll see.

Congrats on the awesome lens, I know when I got a hold of my 80-200 it changed my life.

You are a quite impressive shooter to just be using a 50 for those shots. I don't know if you have Adobe Photoshop like I do, if you happen to have a copy try shooting in RAW and you'll be surprised with a few clicks of the mouse what adobe will do for your shots.

How exciting! I know you cant wait On a side note, let me know if you want to get into Barber to see NASA (cars) Sat and Sun (or) which ever you want, they are racing both days. Yes, its god awful hot, but they are really fun to watch! Let me know asap so I can add you.

Retro - thank you very much! I don't have PS (student budget doesn't allow), but I shoot in RAW almost exclusively and edit in Canon's Digital Professional. It does well enough for the basic stuff. I had to shoot JPEG for the above shots due to time and disk space constraints, since I was out of town that weekend and shooting my brother's graduation as well.

Lori - I know, I'm very excited! Thank you so much for your kindness again, but I won't be able to make that event either due to a friend's wedding Saturday. Sunday they're having a brunch thing and then I'm heading straight out to the Autocross. As always, share some pics! And as for Grand-Am, I WILL be there for that for sure!

No problem Brad, have fun! As for Grand Am your in You may want to record it on Speed, I have a feeling with the new lens, you wont really "see" much of the race I'm off to the furnace, I mean the track lol
