Well.. it was a pretty crappy day for a race. It certainly made for an interesting event. All the guys in Brett's heat spun out a few times. Including Brett. He was using his racing tires, not all weathers. Each heat goes for two hours so they get a LOT of runs in. I took about 500 pictures. Here are a few of what I thought were the best ones.



Alright, we are starting with the Celica. This car was LOUD. Obnoxiously so. Apparantly he was being a real jerk on the course and was kicked off around the 5th run.





This car was in the second heat (Brett's group was the third heat) but I liked the photo





This is Brett's heat coming onto the track to line up. I did not care so much for this shot, but Brett liked it a lot.. so I'm keeping it for him.





Didn't get to know this guy, but yellow is my favorite color ;)

The integra again (I think thats what it was... I'm not so good with cars and Brett isn't around for me to ask lol)





Here is the Lancia. He had it registered under Fiat Spider. I was chatting with this guys son at my perch on the balcony under this little bitty overhang lol His son drives a corvette.





The Volvo.. its a turbo. What can I say?

And here is the last one. Just a line up shot. The did two rows just to make more room. There were quite a few of them in this heat. Oh and its VIR rules to keep the driver's window open while on the race track.







STORY:

I think I mentioned that because of the rain, they all spun out several times. Well, Brett spun out twice. The first time was ok. Just got a bit of mud in his wheel wells and well all over the car ;) The second time however... I had gone inside because my hands were so numb (no gloves) I could not push the camera button anymore I was chatting with Cande, she was running the next heat, when I looked out the window and see Brett sitting sideways in the grass, engine steaming. I wont tell you what words shot out of my mouth as I clumbsily jumped to my feet and tried to put on my coat over my sweatshirt which doesn't work so well lol. By the time I got my coat on, he was already back to the pitt. I ran outside and the car was ok, and he was ok... but he broke the track!



See... when you race at VIR.. anything you hit, you have to replace. Hit a cone, you have to pay for it, hit the guard rail.. its like 500 bucks for a section etc. Well.. Brett knocked out the timing meter. Heat 4 couldn't have a timed race because of that. We dont know yet if its broken. John, he's one of the head guys for the circuit cross (Brett's race) said he's going to see if he can put it back together. If not.. its gonna cost us about $165.00 USD. But.. that happens I guess. I'm just glad he is ok. He said he hit the grass, then hit the pavement and thought the car was going to flip when he hit the pavement again. We were a good 4 drive away from home (and the kids) lol.



Ok.. so thats my story Hope you enjoyed the pictures and all I ask is that everyone is honest about the shots. I can take it This was my first time shooting a race. I did not have much room for panning. I was more concerned with keeping my camera dry lol
