    Drifting

Not sure I'd call it a sport, but you keep score and win trophies - so I guess it must be

paul...I must be missing something, but it could just be my lack of interest in racing...but how can racing be called a sport but drifting not one? No offense meant at all to you or anyone who enjoys racing, but I'm just confused as to why drifiting wouldn't warrant being a sport.

I think it is a kind of racing where the crews don't know how to set up a car :mad2: Or the driver doesn't know what to tell the crew
I personally don't go out of my way to watch it.

    Re: Drifting

Well that was tongue in cheek, but it's just grown out of hooligans throwing their cars about.
To try to get them off the roads they've invented a sport, with marks for style as well as accuracy.
Can you imagine winning World Superbike with points for style?

Because it's only around one or two corners.
Sort of tarmac rallying but on a VERY short course !
And it's done with brute horsepower.

It's only two cars at a time in heats, rather like drag racing.
Can you imagine a day of NASCAR only running two cars at a time, around one corner, in heats?

It's just so different from racing. I suppose for those with an MTV attention span of watching one corner it's satisfying.
But I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, except for some panning practice :mad2:
