    DJ at the P.O. jumps

Um, loosly translated the title says: Dirt Jumping at the Post Office jumps.

That's right I went back to the PO jumps, but this time I brought the gear I thought I would need. These are pretty stock photos and no crazy lighting or anything. I just wanted to make sure I had it set up correctly rather than get super out there with it.

    Camera set-up:
    MKIIN
    Tokina 10-17 fisheye
    PW Plus II
    PW drive cable

I put the camera set-up on my monopod and extended it to full length. I triggered the camera with a PW multimax. I tried several times before finding a composition that I was pretty happy with by tilting the ball head.

Here are a few from yesterday:

    Hey, how's it going?

Pretty much straight on with a slight downward angle.

Nice thinking outside the box. I shot my first dirt jumping photos this morning. I was thinking of bringing a 15 foot ladder out but the monopod sounds like a much easier way to get the same thing done. I wish I had a cheap camera body I didn't mind abusing as it would be fun to mount a camera to the bike using a pocketwizard trigger. Maybe after I get a fourth body the 20D will become expendable.

really cool idea. I havnt been back to shoot the davis DJ, because it became pretty repetive in my shots. just looking up, or motion blur on takeoff or landing.

this would really add something cool, plus I woulnt have that harsh blown out sun filtering through the trees.

so, gear list. monopod and 2 pocket wizards?

You'll need a cable to activate the shutter on your camera. It is pretty easy to make your own and save a grip of money.

I picked up a remote cord on ebay for 7 bucks and then the microphone cable at Radio Shack for a 1.99. Some solder and heat shrink tubing and you are set.

Nice shots! I like the approach you took. It's always interesting to see people's approaches and how different they can be yet still achieve a nice outcome.

I had also built my own at first. I put those high school electronics class abilities to use and started soldering away. It worked well, in fact I used it at the Dew Action Sports Tour. Don't think that just because you make something, it can't work as well as the one made by PW.

About a year later, the PW brand cable came across for sale on sportsshooter for $20. I couldn't pass up the deal, it was still brand new and in the packaging.

    Keep your eyes peeled.

@Desmo - I used a small ballhead on my monopod to help me get the angles I wanted. Holding the monopod at full extension with the gear attached was a chore, but the results were pretty good.
