Did they or didn't they... FB!

It's time for FOOOOOTBAAAALLLLL!!!!!! American football that is
Ok, it's that time of year, footballs are flying through the air..... did they catch them or not?

    From tonights pre-season scrimmage

1: QB misses the snap while in the shotgun formation. They only missed it 5 times (while I was there)! That snapper is gonna be tired of "up and downs" after tonights fiasco! Each bad snap the center gets to run up and down the bleachers 5 times for each "miss".

2: the reciever misses a pass..... in the endzone!

3 and 4: the defender in white misses the interception while the reciever misses the defenders bobble.

If these kids play this bad during the season I think it will be a very long season! There young but some, even those who are now seniors act like they saw the game before :mad2:

You know I haven't picked up the camera since the Brickyard 400, and then it was just for that day, and hadn't shot anything in the three weeks before that but it sure didn't seem to hurt my timing.... maybe I should take time off more often.

Daytime Football!!! Don't think I'll get a chance to shoot any when the sun is the light source. Our first game is next weekend. We only have four home games and they are all at the end of the season. That is what happens when the athletic director retires and nobody picks up the ball and runs with it. Looking forward to your football John. Looks like your off and running in style.

    Hey OT

Well these were between 7:30pm and 8:00pm. Next week I'll probably be at the same place getting the same lighting. Then next Saturday I'm doing a game for a website at noon so I should have good light for both of those games, but you never know.
Hopefully you will get some good light for some games!

Keep your fingers crossed. I have a 7:30 pm start next week and might get in a quarter before things go south.

Come on guys, it's HS football! The most challenging time of the year to shoot outdoors. Afternoon light is nice when you can get it, but we all know the reality of the Friday night lights. I have a lot of games to shoot this year if I'm not out of town and most will be under the candles. Show what you're made of and post some of the night shots. To me, that's what HS football is all about for photographers.

OK.... Now I am getting really excited about football again. I love it.

This year I am gonna go and shoot some "pop warner" games for some local parents who want pictures. Gotta love the game.

    Nice job JS

Fortunately our games normally start at 7 or 7:30 so theres still light til the end of the season for the start of the games.

Don't forget though that other sports are "under the lights", one being the "other" football which is also a challenge.

I hear you about the "other football"! The soccer fields around here have the worst lighting of all the outdoor sports, and on top of that the field is the largest. When I have to shoot there I have to bow to the elements and try to get what I need before the sun goes down. It can be done by the light of the cave fires, but it isn't pretty.

Hard to believe but yes, soccer and vollyball, cross country boys tennis. Soccer takes a lot of players off of the real football Tennis isn't much of a threat though , CC takes a couple speedsters out of the picture though

I messed up as I forgot the 400...lol to big of a hurry to get out of the house trying to escape the 6 little monsters (puppies). Worse yet though my battery died at the game, although it gave me an excuse to leave early

I shoot very few day or well lit soccer games, most are in the dark but somehow they come out OK  Fotunately I have pretty good light at most of out football fields.

Way to start John and the timing looks great. I am so ready for some football action. We should be starting the first week in Sept.

I guess I'm lucky as our varsity soccer are all at 3pm. Very few games under the lights for them.

    Thanks Jim,

It seems they start earlier every year just not earlier in the day I guess I should charge the battery this week, even though it will be an ugly game. I may have to wait till the rand to get something good , then again they may just get shoutout....
