My friend Dorothy is a host at Deer Valley and this Saturday I got a tour of the resort from me. She's one of my favorite people to photograph because she's a great athlete and she looks good on the mountain bike or the skis. We didn't have a great snow day, but we covered a lot of terrain and I got to experiment a lot with different kinds of shots. Since I'm still trying to figure out angles and composition for ski photography, this was invaluable for me. Dorothy is always a good sport about photos and I really appreciate it. Photos like these are a collaboration and the athlete is just as important as the photographer. Without her cooperation and skill on the skis, there's no way I would have had such a productive day.
Oh yeah - think you need a Canon or Nikon for sports photos? These were all taken with the Olympus E-30 and either the 12-60mm or 70-300mm Zuiko Digital Lenses. I love this kit for outdoor photography!
