A couple right before the tornado

I was shooting my second of 4 games for this week and just finished the JV game and Homecoming queen event when the announcer told everyone to evacuate to the locker room and office areas of the gym. We were under a tornado warning. About 15 or 20 minutes later, the tornado barely missed the school. It caused quite a bit of damage at the high school and much more in the immediate area. So far, three people were unfortunately killed in a trailer park about 1 mile from the school. There were many more areas badly damaged, so it looks like I'll be heading out tonight and tomorrow to cover the aftermath for the papers.

Here are a couple from the JV game.

Nice shots, very sharp and clear. Color looks great.

    Be safe Daniel.

Yes, be safe and listen to the police and firefighters if they tell you to stay out, I've covered many tornado's it is tough work to be able to get around. Post some of the shots you get though I'd like to see what sorts of damage you had down that way.

Here are a couple from today showing some of the damage. This thing really devastated many areas around here. Hope none of you ever have to experience anything like this!

those are pretty amazing shots, it's too bad people have to be killed because of things like this. I have experienced stuff like this before, it is truly nuts. I have storm chased and have many stories from doing it, and it is just amazing how the wind can pick up a truck and toss it a mile down the road but leave a cup and saucer on a table in the middle of a house that has been destroyed.

Glad you came through all this safely Daniel. It was a very scary night around the Commonwealth. I was a little to the north of all the action and very glad of it. Stayed up till 2:30 when the all clear for my area was sounded. I have two daughters that live in the Nashville area and this thing went both north and south of them. Your pictures of the destruction are top notch. Hope you don't have an opportunity to photograph something like this again for a long time. Let's stick with sports.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??
