Cars, Bikes and The photo Fairy

Just back from a very enjoyable 3 Days at Doninngton, Mallory and Brands Hatch

Doninngton is full of fences so nothing great from there.

Cars were on first at mallory so got a bit of practice on them

Moved on to brands and took over 400 shots in total.

Took some photos of my nephews team mate. Then a load of photos of my nephew which i previewed on the camera and was really pleased with the results.

Got home last night, stuck the memory card in the computor. Only 190 photos on it. Seems the photo fairy must have stolen the rest. I am gutted

Any ideas how this could have happened

I disagree about Donington Park ... unless they've been at it and "improved" the fences.
If they're using the Melbourne loop there was a great spot on the exit from the Fogarty esses just past the end of the fence.
With a 400mm from inside the track you can get good shots into Craner curves and the Old Hairpin.

Did you use just one card for all your photos?
I normally use 7 or 8 cards - but take more photos.

I have no idea where the images went, but don't use that card again until you've tried to get them back !
I would get some image recovery software and try to recover the images.
I used to use Image Recall I see it's now version 3 at £34.99
It saved my images the one time I needed it.
And it had "Don't Panic" in friendly letters on the front of the box ...

I tried the demo version of it - Don't Panic Photo Edition (DPPE for short) and with a quick scan it found 183 images on a card I formatted.
With the deep scan, it found 415 images.
I reckon it might be worth the £35 to scan your memory card and see what you can find.

I tried the Image Rescue that comes with Lexar Pro memory cards - and it found precisely ZERO images.

    Thanks paul.

I will give that a try.
Yes i only used the one card :blush2:

I found at donny i was just to far away to get a decent shot but will try the spots you have pointed out next time i am there.

I was gutted at losing the photos because i think i am improving and was certain i had some crackers on there from druids.

Re: Cars, Bikes and The photo Fairy

Just tried the free trial of image recall on the card which says it has recovered 400 images.
Would only show me 10 and had to buy the full software.
    Only £16.49

    Thanks for the advice paul.

    Fingers crossed

    Oh yes, Druids is fantastic.
    Inside or outside?

Inside there's no fence, but the light can be in your face.
Outside, you've got to shoot wide open and get the lens right against the fence.

These were shot through the outside fence with Canon 100-400 L wide open:

    Great pictures paul.

I was inside the corner and it was a bit dull so the sun in my face wasnt an issue.

Only two others there taking photos so i was free to move about unlike world superbikes where there were about 40 crammed into the wee space

At big televised meetings they put a camera boom in there and seal it off , so you can only shoot from outside Then it gets really crowded on the fence !

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these shots! Now Im ready for Grand Am LOL. See the guys in orange in your photos? I do that too, but we wear white in the states.
I had that problem with a card one time and the only way to get the pics was to hook up the camera to the computer, for some reason the card reader wouldnt read them. Yeah, I dumped the card after I got the photo's off of it. Can't wait to see more! I will be shooting cars next weekend, more bikes monday and tues, kids this time

    Good on you Lori.
The marshals over here do a fantastic job. Cant praise them enough.

Here is one helping out our Alex after a spill at east fortune. Notice the orange marks on the tarmac in the background from his crash bungs

Look forward to seeing more of your pictures.

Good job on all of the photos. I think the "red 2" and "Corvette" are exceptional. Good work.

    Howdy Wull,

Some nice work there. Looks like it was a bit dark, (dead opposite to over here at the mo), but you have done an excellent job capturing these!

Re: Cars, Bikes and The photo Fairy

The image recall software arrived today and recovered everyone of the missing photos

I will need to sit for a while and sort out the better ones. Here is a few picked at random

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice, didnt like the thought of losing all the pics of the wee man
