Nice first post! Is that in San Carlos? Can't believe there are no bricks or anything in the way to keep people from skating.
I don't know if you're interested in some criticism, but I think this would be better if it was tighter. I expect you wanted to keep the background banks in the photo. But it just feels like too much dead space to me. I want more skater and less empty background.
Thanks for joining us, Demetri. Although I don't shoot any skating, I was a little skate punk in the eighties and I still try to pick up the Thrasher photo issue. Skate photography is close to my heart
Normally, I don't like vertical fisheye shots but I saw the dead space on the first one above and wanted to try something to fill the shot more with the skater while still showing off the difficult spot. It's a train underpass in Mountain View.
I still like the first one best because he is so high up the ramp.
I like the vertical shot, too. I agree that it might have worked better with a lens other than the fisheye. But it does work. And something that hasn't been mentioned yet - the Thrasher shirt. I didn't even notice it in the first photo. But in the two you linked to it really pops out. in those two photos it ends up being a really strong compositional element.
