    Calling in the next play

Sometimes it's difficult to NOT give so much attention to the main players. Whenever possible, I try to photograph the other players.

Now that is a good sports photo. It looks like something I would expect in a calendar.

    Shooting "Outside the Box"

I wanted to follow up on my recent comment made in another thread about shooting non-traditional sports shots. OK, the athletes here are not your typical pros and I'm not a professional sports photographer. But I hope the idea gets across.

The topic was related to this one so I posted these pictures here.

I like your photos they have a Norman Rockwell vibe. The picture in the original post is more a slice of life picture than it is of sport.

You might look at Dave Black's http://www.daveblackphotography.com/index.htm work. He does the art of sport in addition to the action of sport.

Nicey nice. I really like it. To bad Prather isn't in a focus as much as the group, but still a special shot.

Re: Calling in the next play

    Loupey,

I guess my problem with both of these threads is that too many faces are hidden, either shooting from behind the subject or from the side and having a person blocking the subjects of the photo.

Redo, Lava Lamp, & JS: appreciate your words and thanks for taking the time to comment!

As for the faces, though I agree that it would be nice to get them, I always try to tell a complete story first in every image I take. If the story is told and the faces are shown, then that's a bonus in my book!

Kind of funny, the big guys all looking for the next play, the little guy trying to get a breath and saying to himself "not another one!"
