    Bringing Heat

Took this one last week. Cropped to focus on the pitcher's release and the stress on his arm.

Nice timing on the realease. I understand your reason for the crop, but I always have trouble with an image that places an outward looking face so close to the border. May just be a problem of mine, but I like to see more room to the right to balance the image more. I'd be interest to know how other feel about this.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Larry, I think it runs about 50/50. Normally I don' t crop as tight as this. I wanted a little more room on the right as you said, but invariably someone would have wanted to see the tight crop.. . It's one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't kinds of things.

Great timing on the release point. It looks like the vein is going to pop out of his arm.

I think your right. What it always comes down to is what do I want my photograph to look like. There are some general rules, but rules were meant to be broken. In the end the only one that I really have to please is myself, so I take comments like mine to you with a grain of salt.

Exactly!! We know what we like... I generally try two or three crops of some baseball photos to see which might be more effective for a post in the PR forums. Sometimes a photo I post here won't be the same crop as one I post on my webjournal or website. I think most fans are not too judgemental as they just want to enjoy the pictures. However I've become a little more discerning when viewing baseball photos (and others for that matter) by other photographers. That's where PR has helped. Now if I can apply a little of that....

I love the pic and it makes me scream ouch!

Last weekend I got the same thing in my sons arm while pitching. The pics aren't too good because I had to shoot through chain link. I've got to go through them and see if there are any that are forum worthy.
    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.
