    BAJA OFFROAD Racing

I just happened to be at the Nevada/California stateline and was fortunate enough to catch the last two events of 'THE BATTLE AT PRIMM'. This event is organized by SNORE. I really enjoyed the experience and will be putting future SNORE events on my calendar.

I have more photos to post but will need time sorting and editing. Here's one from the POWDER PUFF RACE. I think it's called this because of the women drivers

    Nice truck!

Hi John...yeah it was a really fun shoot once I figured out the best place to fire away. Sports photography is a rush. I wish I could figure out how to do it more often around here.

Here's another with more on the way

    Landing!

By the way, these were all taken with a Canon 30D and a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L with x2 extension.

I kept the ISO at 200 most of the time. My shutter varied between 1/125 (for that background blur) and 1/250. As the sun went down I would need to increase my ISO since f/5.6 was hurting with a 1/125 shutter @ 200ISO.

Most of these were hand held but IS would've been nice.....don't tell Loupey I said this.

Sometimes you have to sacrefice the best shots for safety though, that one shot looks like you may not have been in the best location. Then sometimes the people running the show think they know better than experianced photogs. It took two hours of argueing one night to get the track owner to understand where they wanted us wasn't safe. 5 of us went to the parking lot, and during the first heat a photog was hit! The owner decided then we knew more than he did and he let us go where we wanted. The photog who got hit was ok but walked funny for a couple weeks and had tire tracks on his sneakers.

You are right John. There was no barrier between course, pit stop or audience. All it took was one out of control car to hurt a lot of people. I was actually too excited to think about it. I'll keep it in mind next time.

I angled this in PP so it was a bit more dynamic....
