Re: The Beercan (70-210 f/4) thread..

I love my beercan- but somehow managed to scratch the lens... I'm pretty sure it won't affect image quality, but it irks me that the lens survided other peoples' ownership for 15 to 20 yrs w/ mint condition glass, and in a few months in my hands it's got a couple tiny itty bitty scratches... :mad2:

    Here's a few shots:

Funny thing, I actually met through work a woman named Kevin, when she introduced her self, she had to say "Yes, my name is Kevin, my father wanted a boy."

Yikes! Glad you didn't force that on your last one ;)

Wish I had another can image but not at my main computer. Next time...

    LOL... I wasn't that cruel....

Here's one from today, it's been cropped somewhat - I do find the beercan a little short for the birds, esp the small ones

I never thought about it until you asked, but I don't really have any other landscapes with the beercan. The problem is that most of my landscape type photos happen when I'm out hiking and backpacking, and I don't usually carry extra lenses. Sometimes I'll take an ultrawide (Sony 11-18), but a telephoto zoom lens is just too big and heavy for me. I'll have to try it sometime though.

I completely understand - I'd never have thought of the Beercan as a landscape lens until I saw your shot You need an assistant to carry your stuff

    Great catch, Anbesol

    Thanks, Anbesol!

Jim, you won't regret it - no way! I hadn't heard of the beercan when I got my A700 in September. I had just re-joined this forum before that and very soon these great guys managed to convince me that it was the best thing since sliced bread. I finally got my hands on one 2 months ago, and they were right!

They deserve a bunch of flowers from the beercan fresh off the press Just saw them yesterday for the first time this year - yippee, spring is finally coming

Phil, go for it And we'll be looking forward to your beercan shots!

And here's a rather different one - just to show how versatile this amazing lens is... I had my first tries as a concert photographer last Friday, a Danish blues band. I was using the 50mm without flash and the beercan with flash. A rather fun experience!

    And a rather intimate shot....

    Hi Anbesol,

Sorry for taking so long in getting back to you - my oldest daughter had her confirmation last Sunday which has been a rather time comsuming task (her dad lives in Singapore so it was ll on my shoulders...) - it's a really big deal in Denmark, the biggest party you have until your wedding!

For this particular shot, I actually just used the built-in flash :blush2: For some other shots I used the F58AM that I got on the good advice of Canuck (I'm still not quite at home with it...). I also used my beloved 50mm f1.7 a lot (without flash).
