I think that is quite common. I like it when there is a least a small quote from the post being replied to. Otherwise you have to scroll up and re-read the posts to see what the reply is referring to.

Another point: Sometimes I post a reply - and just don't think about deleting any of the original (quote) because it shows up automatically - and is below what I'm typing.
