    Please help to choose !

Hello everybody @ Photoreview ! Recently I`ve decided to chase my childhood dream.
(wanted to be a photographer) . Now that I`m older , It`s not about make a living from taking pics. Just wanna take good quality shots. Very interested in outdoor activities, sport ( mostly outdoor / winter) , wild-life , portrait , scenery. The more I read about the reviews , the more I`m comfused . My choice would be Canon EOS 20D , or Nikon 70D .
Any comments appreciated about this cameras , or other brands around the same price / specification range .
    Thank you ! , Laz.

    High quality?
Looks like scenary and portrait, you can use medium format film.
Perhaps a used Hassy or Mamiya?

for sport...hmmm...maybe stick with the SLR plan
If you shoot film, you can save on the camera, and get a better lens

    digital go with the D20

Welcome. Nikon's D70 originally came out to compete with Canon's Digital Rebel. The 20D is a step up from those - and Nikon's camera at that level is pretty out of date. Could be a new one soon...

But this is the way it always is with digital. The important thing is to get a camera and start shooting. You could wait a couple years and get a better camera for less money, but you wouldn't have two years of experience and pictures either.

If you can find one, the 10D is now about $500 cheaper then when I bought it last December. Then you can spend the money you save on a new lens or two. : )

I've been happy with it, I just wish the Canon glass was a little less expensive, but Sigma is working okay for me.

Thanks very much for the comments , appreciated .
About film cameras , I don`t think I wanna deal with films. Just too convenient to have
the pics ready for view , soon I load `em to my laptop. ( which is with me all the time)
About Ken Rockwell`s website , thanks a lot , I`ve spent a couple of hours there , lots of info...
Happy new year everyone at photographyreview !

    Hello Laz,

I currently have the 20D and i bought it about two months ago. I did a lot of research and found the 20D to be a better choice (for me at least). I would not hesitate to say the 20D, but you have to decide for yourself by looking at the specs and reviews. www.dpreview.com is a very good website providing technical specifications for most cameras out there along with reviews of them. Both the 20D and D70 have reviews in there. Read them, you will quickly learn which is better. The specs, page also has a place where owners of the camera can write a brief review of the camera. Hope this helps.
