    Re: Back from London

I like the composition in the first one. Maybe a small fill flash would've gotten a few more details from the lion statue.

I think the 2nd one is a bit too much sky. And the bridge interferes with the skyscape. I would've went to that bridge and shot my photo from there (looking in the same direction)

good stuff though, I love night photography and I don't see much of that here.

Yep, and I think you'd have seen another bridge ... though lower in the shot.

I scrolled down to crop the top edge just below the moon, I think it's better in that aspect.

I like the moving traffic, and the stationary bus for contrast.
Unless it's an HDR and the same bus is in the image 4 times?

    Re: Back from London

The top one has better geometric shapes and I really love the purple color. I count one, two, three separate objects to look at, all at different planes, which is interesting. However, that fence there adds an unwanted fourth which tends to make it busy and sorta 'block' the user from entering the scene (if THAT makes any sense).

The bottom one has some nice things about it, including the interesting bridge and moon. The background buildings are Ok, but that (what looks like a) crane hurts it. However, this image is really brought down by having way too much clutter, including moving ships, buses, shoreline, and bright lights. It really pays to isolate a particular subject or theme of objects. Also - the moving buses and ships are an interesting idea, but a longer exposure to really get them to blur would work a lot better.

    Re: Back from London

Excellent feedback from you all - thanks. The moon was moving so fast, getting to the bridge would have taken too long ...lack of planning on my part. Actually, I learned something about shooting the moon (never done it before) - I think I should have taken another shot of the scene by spot metering on the moon only, and layer it in in PS later ...I think it is way too bright as is ...Also, regarding the buses ...there were that many in a single shot, and that is really what I liked about the picture ....sort of London Rush hour craziness ...thanks to all.
