Around London .. what do you think?

Hi all .. a few pics I took earlier in the summer. The first is Tower Bridge - I liked the quality of the light as dusk approached. The second is more experimental - it's one of the gates at Hampton Court, which was the royal palace from the late 1500s through the 1700s. The last one is a detail from the same palace.

As always, comments and critiques are always appreciated.

    Cheers

1st and 3rd are stunning. Very nice. On the second one, I wish the focus were on the building instead of the gate.

You caught good light on all of these.
I find the color and composition in the third especially pleasing.

Re: Around London .. what do you think?

The first two certainly caught my eye, but the third one is the real stunner.

Perhaps a slight monitor issue for me, two different monitors here that I've used to look at this, and on one it is a bit dark in the lower left. But the color is fine and even so I think it is just this display.

The third photograph is very well composed and the colors are working in every fashion. The lines of the trees and the windows overlooking them with that perfect pale blue sky makes for a great photo! An air of regal mystery just sort of seeps out of this!

    Well done.

The first two are not shabby either. I'd like to see the Old Bridge as more of the composition and less of the boat and dock/wharf area in the foreground. Personal choice I am sure though I reel it would simplify the imagery and bolster the bridges presentation.

Good symmetry in the gate photo. Perhaps play with reducing the rust in post processing?

Again, thanks for showing us these photographs.

    Didache-
Wow!, is right. These are terrific. I like photos 1 and 3; one just jumps off the screen, it looks 3-D. Nice composition, colors are perfect, the amount of foreground doesn't bother me, in fact the edge of the dock (?) or lock and dam on the left edge helps establish scale. Image three is equally impressive, very nice composition; I really like the variety of angles and lines in this shot and of particular note is the 45 degree angle formed by the line of the hedge along the left edge of the image.

    Nice job!!

I like these, nice job with them.

I agree the 3rd one is my favorite and does have the 3d effect. The colors are stunning.

The 2nd one I think needs more separation from the building in the background, or vice versa. Its a very detailed gate but seems to get lost in the background.

    Nice work on all three.

Re: Around London .. what do you think?

Thanks guys for the input. I THOUGHT the hedge photo had some merit, but I wasn't 100% sure - one of the very real advantages of a forum like this is getting other views. Based on your comments, I think I'll do a good copy of it for camera club purposes.

    Thanks again
    Mike
