I think some of the distortion has to do with how i was standing taking the pic... I did get the effect I was going for ... as the building is just Massive, I wanted to show that in the picture I took (the full version is awesome.. you can really see every tiny detail)... and on such a drab day (are there any other kind in london?...lol) I was shocked it turned out as well as it did...
I do have other pics, but not very many.. I'll get more when i return
VK, I think Pixie did a fine job with the tones and contrasts of the building, and I like your perpective and framing of it, but the lens distortion is really putting a downer on this. i think it still is appealing and keeps me looking at the fine architecture, but the distorted lines are awkward in this shot. I feel as if the building will fall on me.What an incredible looking piece of work that is. Any more shots from here, or from London in general?
I am really glad you enjoyed your visit to London - my city! The National History Museum (for that is what it is) is a really hard building to photograph well - it is just too big to get more than a little bit in. I am impressed that you posted this one, instead of the usual Big Ben/Parliament/Tower Bridge/etc. Just for fun I did a version of your image with the lens distortion corrected - hope you don't mind.
I live in South London - about 25 mins from Victoria on the choo choo. If you wish, let me know when you are coming back .. my email is: mg.dales@btinternet.com
