    Pickin'

I love b and w, but am never sure if I get the contrast right.
I would appreciate any c and c on this shot taken at the Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festival.

The b/w looks good to me, but I'm no expert when it comes to the channel mixing and all that. I think a slower shutter speed might have worked here to get some more motion in his fingers.

Very nice. Great variation of patterns from the shirt to the rim of the banjo, and fret detailing. Sharp focus and effective crop. I really like the reflection of, I'm guessing your face, in the chrome string gizmo below his hand. I like it a lot. Nice b&w work.

Thanks for the encouraging words. The slower shutter speed would have given it the motion it is lacking.

The reflection is actually the face of the bass player standing just to my left.

Never thought of that, but it's a great idea.

I wish Adobe could come up with a more convincing motion blur filter.

A very nice shot, though. I might try a little vignette to help bring our eyes right to the instrument.

I will give the vignette a try. I appreciate the feedback.

I really like the composition, the circle (banjo) placement and I totally dig the reflection.

Contrast looks fine, plenty of detail in the head (face) and LOVE the reflected face in the tailpiece. This was a perfect candidate for a square crop

Looks good to me as well. Centered though. Still good.
