    Assorted gods (layered)

    Hi all

On my travels to different countries I tend to pick up statuettes of the gods (Greek, Egyptian, Roman, Indian, and so on). Makes a nice mantlepiece display.

Anyway, while I am on my layering kick, I thought I would photograph a few of them. The layering is relatively simple compared to the ones I've posted lately.

As far as I can tell, the texts are real to the gods portrayed.

    Cheers
    Mike

Man, one of these days I have to learn layering way better than I know how now.
These are all very well done, Mike. Really like the backgrounds.
Thanks for sharing.....gives me a bit of inspiration if my ADD doesn't get in the way.

I would love to see the type smaller. Right now it competes with the images and I barely even look at the statues.

    Love the overall effect though.

Thanks all for having a look.

opus - actually I agree with you on reflection. I was overly concerned with readability, particularly with an online version. I have reduced the font size considerably and replaced it with a more interesting one called, appropriately enough, 'papyrus'.

You can see the reworked versions at the bottom of:

Opus hit the nail on the head regarding font size. With that sorted these should look great.
    Another nice idea Mike.

I like the the new versions much better. With the change of fonts and not having the lettering as dark I think it really adds to the look. Great job, Jeff

FABULOUS! Now the pieces look more like official museum displays. As a former typesetter, as soon as you said "Papyrus" I knew you'd nailed the font as well.
