Winter Comes Early To The Wasatch

Winter has come to the Wasatch early this year. Although their official opening day is Friday, November 21st, Alta ski resort offered a little pre-season action this weekend. They had tons of people show up for a winter coat drive and all the hardcore Alta skiers were out to for a warm up. Conditions were way better than I expected with a decent snow pack and surprisingly good snow quality. My legs are protesting today. But I am psyched about getting started so early.

These photos were all taken with the new Canon EOS 50D and EF-S 18-200mm IS lens. I am really enjoying shooting with this camera/lens combination.

Wow that second one is packed full of action. Looks like a lot of fun but I'll take my fun in the sun, if I have a choice.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

These are some "cool" shots (cue cheesy drums).
I like the last one the best, but that run to the right looks like it'd be a right bumpity ride.

Thanks. It was a really nice start to what I hope will be a great season.

By the way, that huge line isn't the lift line. That would have been no fun. Those are people in line for the coat drive. It was very un-crowded on the slopes. Mostly, it was the hardcore skiers who didn't want to wait. And we were rewarded.
