I think it would be better to shoot head on, say from under the basket. Granted it gets a bit rough, and I have been run over a few times but you get a lot better angle, and great expressions that you don't get from this angle.

These were taken from the right of the basket, half way between the basket and sideline.

Good attempt ally..Basketball isn't an easy subject to handle especially with available light..I agree with JS about shooting from under the basket..All in all,,good work..

A good step in the right direction and I would second what John told you. My other comment is to tighten up a little and get closer to the action. I also have tendency to shot to loose and end up cropping many of my shots tighter in the post processing. If you get in there tighter to start with you mantain better quality.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

That a good combo. I have the 28-70 and 80-200 , with them I can cover basketball pretty well. I am drooling over a 300 f2.8 now, but it will be far in the future.

With that lens Ally you can shoot under the basket no problem. i do it with the 70-200 but go a bit right or left, that way I don't need to worry about the lower limit.

Speaking of basketball, I have 4 games Friday and Saturday nights! I forgot about the county allstar game with a neighboring county. It's a two night deal with the Seniors from each county playing in girls and boys.

I like your gyms walls! I find that moving around helps me with Hoops. I sit in the stands, level with the hoop, parallel with the backboard, sitting hunched down behind the baseline, offset a little from the paint.
I also find that using a 70-200 (or in my case 80-200) is pretty hard for basketball. I tend to sit close, so 35-80 or 13-55 is what I use mostly.
