Hey M - If you run your Mac in Windows emulation mode you can still use Corel. (I believe you will have to pay for Windows too if you do that.) I use Corel PhotoPaint all the time and wasn't even award of skin smoothing tools per se, though I do use its smart blur that does the same thing (w/ care.. too much looks plastic). Topaz is a plug-in that has a "Clean" filter that makes things look smooth. It runs in both Corel PhotoPaint and Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop and Elements, and in Infranview and GIMP 2.0, both of which I believe are still free.

In short though, there's a lot of photo editing software out there now. Depends on what you want to spend, but even the free stuff ain't bad.
