I like its negative, infrered effect.

Question though...does this have meaning for you? I could interpret it in sort of a "vulnerable to the hurricane" way. Exposed, unable to protect themselves...

well, if you want an honest opinion... it reminds me of a place where i live, and that makes me sick with boredome.. photoshop manipulations are cool, but when they are applied to mundane subjects i feel it's just a waste of time (not that i didn't do it myself a thousand of times )

I have to agree with f.side. It could be an interesting technique to use on some other types of shots.
Why did you choose those colors? I would probably have gone with a more yellowy orange to go with that blue while certain unnamed others around here I imagine may have gone with a redder color for more POP.

Kelly: This was shot in infrared, then tinted in ps. That's interesting that you see that meaning in it. I guess I should but truthfully, I don't really see any meaning, just that I like the look of those houses. The part that appeals to me is when I look through the lens (especially with infrared) and see it, my heart is about to jump out, it's just so beautiful. It's like another world and thrilling to take the photo. When I get it home, some are still thrilling but never as much as when taking it. I feel like a kid looking through a viewmaster for the first time. These houses are something I never saw before my trip and are fascinating to me for that reason.I guess they do give me a certain feeling, but I don't know what. I took about 100 shots because I couldn't stop, I wanted that thrill over and over. I chose this one to tint because it didn't stand on its on as infrared. I really appreciate your giving it the time.

f.side: woah, I did say be honest but don't remember saying " go for the jugular". lol Anyway, i happen to disagree. I didn't just apply some filters to this, and I find it no different than painting with oils or water color, which I use to do. I don't find the subject mundane, because there is a certain beauty in everyday things. The things we do over and over never get old. Think about it...do you ever get bored with eating? How bout sleeping? Sex? We do these things over and over and over and to me they are fresh each time. But I do realise that to some it may be boring, so i try to put a different twist on it. Sometimes it works, other times it doesnt. Printed, this looks like an attractive water color and not great piece of art.

chunk: Hey chunky! I chose the colors because I wanted it to look like "false color infrared" which is more reddish. Also, when using channel mixing in Lab mode and other methods on a greyscale image, there are only certain colors which will take on the image. Also, because, I was just playing lol. This is what came out. heh I think my real problem was using a photo that didn't work in infrared and trying to make something of it. You're suppose to take your best work and take a chance manipulating it, not try to rescue something that is no good to begin with. Thanks chunk and quit picking on my friend clicker. heh

    i'm sorry
of course we all have different visions and different attachments, and may be i went over top speaking strictly my own narrow point of view
but.. as a matter of fact, i do get bored with these everyday things like eating and sleeping, and do them merely out of necessity

heh heh, yeah, I get bored with sleeping, myself.

I just can't seem to get bored with eating, though. Darn. Would save a bunch of money if I did. We just dropped a bundle at a Japanese restaurant last night.

f.side: lol you don't have to be sorry. it's obvious by your photography that it takes more to entertain you! I've done graphic art for years and illustration. Guess this is really more on that line. um, what about the 3rd thing i mentioned? get bored with that? nm..something tells me I don't want to know. heh

Kelly:Me either! would be nice though. The closest thing I can get to bored with eating is when I'm so busy doing photos that I forget to eat, but as soon as im done, I'm famished. I hate wasting time sleeping too but love it at the same time.

Penny:Thanks penny. good idea! I'll give you a cut.

    beachy!

Kit, this makes me think it should be printed on a piece of white wood and hung on the wall in a beach house with white whicker furniture and clear glass lamps with sand and shells in them.. Shells, how fitting for you.. I think it would create that "refreshing, clean" feel people who decorate with beach themes want. believe me, my boss buys all kinds of stuff, and she would Love- Love this for a beach theme.
