Shot at Universal Studios in Studio City, California. This the globe at the end of City Walk right before you enter Universal Studio itself. I don't know if this invokes any feelings, but here it is for you to judge.

THe feelingings it invokes for me are appreciation of its shape and placement in space.

I appreciate those elements, how you captured the word "univer(s)" (I add the 's' because we assume it exists beyond the borders of the space) -- again, how you captured the word "UNIVERSE" in the space in such as way as to suggest the word IS the universe, massive, imposing, singularly alone in space.

I like it! It has a 3D feeling to it. Almost if this was a computer generated image... It's so sharp! Too bad the R is slightly cut off.

Yeah, the cut off 'R' was niggling at me, too, but I couldn't decide if it was a problem or not.

I really need to start learning to listen more loudly to my gut.

I've been lookingat this since you posted...and keep coming back to it...and 'm not sure what to think.

I think from a technical perspective(since "art" can sometimes blow all the technicalities out the window) other than the cropped R---it's a beautiful shot. the colors and the softness of the sky vs the hardness of the manmade letters is really very nice....angle is great too..

as art maybe a tighter crop more of an abstraction to it might work nicely...my 2 uneducated cents.

to me art should have some type of oomph or "shock" value--something that elicits an almost immediate response one way or another-rgrdless of what that may be (stillness,shock,disgust,amusement.etc)

for now it's a very nicely done photo...

No, Ray.. don't give up on this! I've been looking at this shot since the day you posted it. I had to figure out how I felt about it before posting. first, I have to be careful that I don't judge it just by the fact that I adore things sitting in the sky.(Sci-fi lover)

So, getting past that I like the steel against the sky. The missing end of the word universal makes it seem like the sign is turning. And if it was, of course we could only see the part that is in the front, so no biggie there. the mind finishes it. This alone brings it into the artistic realm. If you could figure out how to bring out the sign more. It already looks 3d like Steph mentioned, so if you could exaggerate the dimension by making it gradually get fainter or make the steel sharp. I really dont know what, but think about it, how you can make it have a bit more >pop<.
