I'm looking for a good deal on high-speed internet so I can send my large digital pictures. My son found a deal on-line at http://specials.comcastoffers.com with $19.95 for the
first six months, $50 cast back, and a free modem.

Nice, but what are the on going costs after the first six months. They don't freely show that at all on their website, I was looking around. You have to supply them with address info to be able to get any further on their website. Although the price is excellent, read the fine print, about on going extras, seems you might have to pay to rent the modem, and not being able to see their pricing structure generally without supplying target info like your address, attaches you to thier prospective database and might open you up to cold calling.

I forgot to add. The download speed is excellent, but the upload speed is 256k, so sending large file to someone is going to take a considerably longer time than you might think. Don't get suckered in to the 3 megabit download, that is excellent your end but not when sending out stuff, it will be like the tortoise and the hare as an example.

I had cable internet for a while. It was OK and the speed was much better than dialup. I now have DSL through Earthlink for the same price. It is substantially faster than cable, both up and down. The big problem is that you must also have a home phone. If that is already there, then it's no big deal. For me, I could get along on just mobile.
