    2500 photos stored in iPhoto

    Question,

Anyone know approx how many gigabytes that is? These are full resolution size pictures.

I ask because I am down to 12gb on my iBook G4, and wondering if it would be worth it transferring these photos to CD's or something to free up some space.

    Thanks

No matter what you should copy them to another media as backup. One copy of all your images is asking for disaster.

As for how many GBs that is, why don't you just right-click on your library (or CMD-i) and find out? We can't tell you, it depends on pixel size, compression, ISO, image detail, etc. Way too many factors to guess.

How to tell the most experienced shooter in a group? They have the least amount of toys on them.

How about a simple RAID 1 volume? It requires two disks for the storage of one, but it's fault-tolerant because it keeps identical copies on two drives, which look like one drive to the system.

If a hard drive goes out, you get another one and rebuild the array. No loss of data.
