I don't think this is the sort of pic that can really attract much in the way of critique, but I like to show what I've been doing with my camera just to feel involved!

It is a shot of the glass roof of the o2 centre on Finchley Road, North London - a modern building with a collection of restaurants, a big cinema, and the odd shop in it. Not a great deal to say really - its just a collection of lines and light really, but I liked it!

I like it a lot Matt, but that probably doesn't surprise anyone. I took it into PS to look at it and tried some duotone combinations that I liked because it strengthened the patterns and the subtle variations within the shadows seemed more in evidence. I also like this version which is just an inversion and levels adjustment. Hope you don't mind.

Course I don't mind - glad you like it. I think your inverted version looks really striking! The little traditionalist living inside me keeps whispering that I shouldn't go too crazy with my shots in PS, but when I see things like that I wonder if I shouldn't just cut loose sometimes

Inverting an original and controlling contrast and exposure after the shot has been done to photos for the past 150 years or so. How much more traditional can you get??

Thanks Almo - and this is no way an endorsement of Mr Gates, although if he turned up at my door with a big old bag of money saying he simply had to base his new advertising campaign around my shot, I would probably be prepared to let his people speak to my people. Although I would need some people. I wonder if my mum's free..)

Geometric abstracts can be very challenging to present in b&w since contrast is one the main ingredients, and pattern is the second ingredient. much easier in color imho. Ask yourself what it was about the mind's eye vision you had that drew your attention, and focus on bringing that out in the image.
