    Window Shopper

This is the result of quiet a bit of adjustment of an original colour shot.
Would appreciate your comments on this one.

    Dear Tom,

I like the composition in this shot. The lonely old lady shopping on an empty street. Very symbolic of old age. You really get a feeling of loneliness from this picture. My only critique though, would be that you have too much negative (ie empty) space in the upper right. Maybe if you close cropped it to the old lady, and left some of the street in it too. Just my opinion. A very good photo.

Interesting shot. The attitude of this shot is very strong and very interesting. Though I don't mind the crop, the pic, atleast on my computer, seems very grainy and noisy. Other than that great shot and great timing to catch her looking in the window,

    Re: Window Shopper

This image has a timeless feel to me.
You're so lucky to be able to step out your door in almost any corner of Ireland and take a picture that could have been taken any time within the last 60 years.
The timeless aspect of this shot appeals to me (true I've got a soft spot for Ireland, as do many people who've been there more than once I'm sure). I'm not saying you couldn't get a similar shot anywhere in North America, for example, it's just that the opportunties seem to present themselves more often in a place like Ireland (I'm really putting my foot in it if you took this somewhere else!).

But I digress...i like the comp. but the sign in the upper right is competing for attention. I do think the image needs all the extra space to the right, leading down the street. I guess I just wish that sign wasn't there. At least it's not a modern looking sign.

Dz's allusion to loneliness is right on I feel. That's the feeling I get and the sepia and graininess reinforces that feeling.
    I like it.

I like this photo very much. As noted, the sign is a bit of a distraction but otherwise this is a very successful photo.

    Re: Window Shopper

Hello Everyone and thank you for your comments.
The photograph was taken in Hay & Wye in Wales but similar in a lots of ways to Ireland. BTW I'm from Ireland and return there very often but at the moment am living in London. But i always locate myself as from being from Ireland.
I added the grain and sepia to give it an old look and hope I have not overdone it. The sign in the top corner: I included this to fill that area as I thought the upper halves of the houses lacked interest all the way from left to right. So it is really interesting to hear these different views.
What I liked best about it was the women being alone and the little lift of her heel to reach forward to perhaps get a better view of the windows contents.
    Very many thanks
    Tom

Fantastic shot, I don't see the grain all the much but that could be due to my high res setup. And the sign, well didn't realy notice it untll it had be mentioned.

    cheers.

A very nice photo. This shot looks like it could have been taken 50 years ago. I like the color adjustments and the grain in the photo. They really add to the timelessness of this photo. Nice work.
