    Window light

It is not often that my kid gets a shirt instead of t-shirt and jeans so I had to take a photo It was a bit of a rush as I decided to do this before jumping on the car, and there was going to be a photographer taking photos at the event so no mor photo oportunities for the rest of the afternoon

I asked him to stand at the entrance to the kitchen , at this time of the day significantly darker than the entrance hall
    Big window to his left
Cloned out a bit of stuff behind him, and lowered the brightness of the background about 15%

Eyes look a bit soft after the upload even when I sharpened after the resize , I haven't have this problem for a while , hmm ...
Cut a bit of the shirt and didn't notice in camera wish I had a bit more space to the right
Edge of kithchen counter visible to the left of the photo, clone it ?

    What do you think ?

    Thanks for looking and commenting

Beautiful environmental portrait Armando. Perfect crop, great separation and a very pleasing contemplative expression. Really nothing to critique. Don't worry a bit about the counter, picture frame or clipped edge of the shirt, they're absolutely fine the way they are, and help show the "in the moment" nature of the shot.

Very nice, I like his expression as well. I'd like a slightly looser crop all around and a bit more seperation of hair from bg, but otherwise this is a fine portrait.
    Well done

Very nice! My one nit pick has already been mentioned but is the lack of separation between the hair and the background. Great job, Jeff

Great shot. They say window light when cloudy outside is some of the best, since the clouds provide some natural diffusion. At first, I wanted to see him looking at the camera. However, I ended up imagining where or what he may be looking at or thinking ...so it grew on me. The exposure is very good and sharpness is great. Great tone from the very dark hair and the eyes all the way to the lighter skin tones in that little white twinkle in the eye. Well don.

    Thanks llewpics

I always have trouble when I want to take a photo of him, he will open his eyes really big and give me a fake smile, also he'll stand very tall like he is ready to salute , so, I'm happy with his expression on this.

Diffusion from this window is thanks to the white cloth it has, the sun was hitting the window, it is like a huge soft box, floor to ceiling, with a great modeling light

Very well done, Armando. Looks like a little Armando Great lighting and cropping. I don't prefer either over the other.

    Re: Window light

I like the lighter one. The whole thing is very monotone though, I think its a prime candidate for a high contrast BW.
