    Wilkeson super market

Walked to town with dog tonight shooting other stuff but saw this, I've shot it before but not in this light.
I'm going to try it again...hope to have someone inside.
I have mixed feeling about cropping the post on right and maybe the brick wall on left leaves it unbalanced?
    What do you think?

Other than a slight straighten, nice shot. I think yourself with your dog sitting on that bench would make it truly great.

Hmm.. the dog waiting patiently outside would work well as a storyline.

I like it Frog. I think a WB tweak towards the warm side just a hint to try and take the blue cast off of the white posters. Other than the straighting I would leave it as is.

I like the the picture and the DOF on this with having detail outside and inside also. I think that having the dog waiting outside is a good idea. I also agree with Greg on a slight WB tweak. Jeff

    Re: Wilkeson super market

    Thank you for comments.
I'll see what happens with that white balance.
This was not a planned shot as I was doing some 'from the hip' shots for the project forum and I had the dog with me and she gets impatient when I stand around with that black thing in front of my face.
Definitely going to do some more shots here.

    Re: Wilkeson super market

Also has a bit of distortion ?

Maybe the dog outside and someone shopping in the center aisle ?

My dog used to get nervous too, she is now used to it, and will patiently seat - after calling her a couple of times - the continue on as I put the camera away

There's definitely a bit of distortion going on here (otherwise, an earthquake hit the building). Straighten it a bit by rotating CCW about 1 degree. Seems a tad surreal, not sure what it is, maybe over-sharpening? Any more of this place, perhaps a little wider? It works overall.

    Re: Wilkeson super market

Perhaps the distortion is due to the 12mm. That's the widest I have.
As for the dog, she'd have to be tied to the bench. She might not take off but patience is not a virtue of aussies.

    Re: Wilkeson super market

I like this. If it were mine I would replace the right foreground post with bricks cloned from the left side. I would not try to make the composition symmetrical. I think someone suggested a minor change to remove the blue cast. I also agree that putting your pooch in the image would add something.

This said, it is a very good composition as is.

This was taken at night and I don't see any need to do a color correction at all (not even that of the white signs). Different tones bring out different emotional response from the viewers. So it all depends on what Frog likes to convey. The only thing I see that needs correction is the distortion. Other than that, it looks fine to me.

    Re: Wilkeson super market

I haven't worked more on it yet and confess I'm not sure about working on the wb.
We have fluorescent, neon, and natural light all in one photo so correcting one would mess with the others...wouldn't it?
And the Wilkeson Grocery sign on the left is that color.

You can do it one affected area at a time. Or you can correct whatever you think is needed and leave the other alone. Layer mask is your friend.

Great shot, Frog. Maybe the dog would help, but I think a trio of people/animals, in front of store, mid store and back store would make a power shot.
But, I must say, that is what inspires me in what you have provided.

    Re: Wilkeson super market

Funny thing about the dog...almost every day we walk the 1/2 mile to town to get the mail and I often go in this store for a cup of coffee. When I go in I leash Sadie to that bench and she sits outside the door watching me. So that shot would not be hard to arrange.

Neat shot. I would straighten and try some lens correction, clone out whatever it is bordering on the right side of the frame, and adjust the color temperature for a warmer look.
