    Who's daffodils?

I was driving around on some back roads today looking for inspiration and while driving past an abandoned house caught sight of daffodils on the porch. I took a lot of pics from different angles but could never quite get rid of the blackberry bushes.
    What do you think?

Cut the bushes down . End of problem. This place has some golden possibilities.

    Re: Who's daffodils?

I agree with the bushes being a problem, but it is a great subject and well composed. I tad unlevel though. It makes me wonder how the flowers got there. A good find Frog. This one also needs to be a little more crisp if thats the right word. How do you size for the web?

    Re: Who's daffodils?

    I sized it in adobe.
I used the unsharp mask on the daffs alone.
I have a bunch of shots from different angles and I even tresspassed to get some closer shots but it seems the daffodils themselves usually are a bit fuzzy.
They were already getting a bit wilty so don't know if I can get a reshoot.
I was a bit nervous about the tresspassing so didn't grab my tripod.
I was using my D80 on program mode...If I can get back I'll try other settings.
    Any suggestions.
    Here's another:

Hi Frog. I like them.#3 has the rural feeling. I love how the stairs are grown over in the 3rd image. The "go away"
What a wonderful photo op. For sure a great find.Try some manual mode shots. Are you using sharpening / custom settings mode?

It took me a long time to figure out the D80.I'm still...learning it.
    Glad to see these.

    Re: Who's daffodils?

I like the angle of the last one but miss the "go away" writing on the wall. I think you could have benefited from either a polarizer or grad filter on the last one. But still the quality of your pictures are missing something? How about a list of camera settings and let's see what you got. How hard would this be to reshoot?

It is slightly tilted, but a bigger problem is low cantrast. needs a levels adjustment.
I played with it and came up with a version I like. love to post it w/your permission.
it is a neat photo op. creepy place.

    Re: Who's daffodils?

Sure, Mark. Lets see what you came up with but let me know how you did it.
I did have a polarizer on, by the way.
Thankyou all for the comments. I know I was unable to get what I wanted and all the advice is appreciated.
Re-shoot may be difficult as the daffs were already beginning to wilt. Might be able to get down there tomorrow.

Would you mind if I had a go at this as well, Frog? I'd be happy to post a step by step procedure.

First I leveled it, which took a few tries.
rotate free rotate layer, made the adjustment, flattened layer.
    then I desaturated yllow slightly.
sellected keep out the folwers and the pot, inverted selection and desaturated.
    somewhere along I adjusted levels.
I selected just under the roof and featherd a good bit to add a little shadow with levels.
I jacked up the reds a bit.
I selected the door and the window seperatly feathered the edges a bit and adjusted the levels to bring out some detail within.
BTW I still use elements 2.
    Thanks for letting me play,
    Mark.
I forgot! I also used unsharp mask .

    Re: Who's daffodils?

I like the red jacked up and more intereior detail.
Not sure about the tonal of the building but thanks for going through that work and letting me know how you did it. I went from elements 2 to 5.0 a couple of months ago and still have a lot to learn.
    Thanks again, Mark!

    Re: Who's daffodils?

Has a lot of potential. I really like how you included the sticker bushes because it adds to the feeling of overgrowth and desertion. I love the wire hanging down too The "Go away" graffeti seems to fit right in there.

Mark's edit is to me an improvement. It brings out more intensity. But it might hit a little too hard? Maybe just a tad bit less contrast. The B&W and spot colors are Ok.
