    My first Macro Shots

I don't know if this posted already, but I tried a prior to this, and I keep getting auto logged off and it makes me log in again. I don't understand. Anyways, here are my macros. I used attachable macro lenses with my 50mm lens. Tell me what you think.
    Thanks,
    Jason

very nice for your first shots. great colors and good focus.
My fav is #4. not a very common flower to photograph, and i think the colors are the best in this one.

    Re: My first Macro Shots

    I vote for #4 also.
Focus seems a bit soft in the others.

    Re: My first Macro Shots

Good work with those closup lenses.

The first could use some more depth of field, but it is interesting to see just a ring of in focus fluff. I wonder how it would look with just the seeds or just the nearest 'parachutes' in focus using the current dof.

The third shot looks really nice with a good dof having the whole angled blossom in acceptable focus. I think it could be improved with a crop to remove most of the gray and move the blossom off center. In general compositions are more pleasing with the subject located away from the center of the frame.

p.s. The tulip I use as an avatar was taken with screw on close up lenses shortly after I started trying to take serious photos about 25 years ago. I know how hard it can be to get much depth of field on flowers because stopping down results in shutter speeds that are too slow for blossoms that move with any breath of wind.
Don't be afraid to use something to stabilze the flower to minimize movement.

    Re: My first Macro Shots

Decent first shots. I like the bottom one the best. I like how the background is blurred but the flower seems a little soft. I think that the others could probably use a better angle (if available) so to get a better background.

I have a macro too, the Tamron 90mm. Ive found that you really need to use a small aperature and hence a slower SS. But that means a) a tripod and b) you're at the mecry of the wind with the slow shutter. So a windy or even a breezy day won't work for macro flowers, unless you subject is protected from the wind.

    Re: My first Macro Shots

ZL, Frog, Chunk, and GB1 thank you very much for your comments. I'll see what I can do with putting the flowers a little off center. I've always liked close up shot for some reason. I'll be messing around with them a lot and see what pictures I can come up with. Thanks again for your suggestions, I'll definately take them into account for my next macros.
