    Lonely Fisherman

I shot a ton of pictures of this guy trying to get the right effect...This one turned out the best...Or at least I think it turned out alright. This was one of those "stepping out of your comfort zone" type of photos for me, since it's not my usual style.

Great mood here. I really like the reflection or glitter of light on the water. But the sky is way too dark. The sky is almost not there anymore.

I agree with Liban. Sky is just too dark. WIth that being said, cropping out the sky still makes this picture great.

    Nice shot,

Really really nice and I like the black top bit (be it sky or whatever) creating a sort of tricolour overall.
    Nice atmosphere to this.

    Re: Lonely Fisherman

The top is actually the shoreline (the river is in a ~1000 ft. deep canyon, so no sky...) and if you could actually see the background, you'd be seeing a trailer park...But it was in very heavy shadow, so I just burned in the parts that actually were visible.

Great mood here, I agree with cropping off the top. It lets the boddy of water be huge as you want, heightening the isolation.

    Re: Lonely Fisherman

I looked at the original and saw that part of the black is actually more water with some reflections in it, so I decided to leave that in. I think it helps add a little more depth and isolation...Thanks all for your comments.

    Re: Lonely Fisherman

I like this shot -- especially the colors. I've been playing with pushing light range such that the exposures come as almost duo-tones also. An interesting thing to do on the D70.

Is it cropped? Is it possible to crop if the firshman is in the top left third (and thus the image opens up in the direction he is looking)?

    Cheers,
    Tim
