Nice shot, a DOF issue and metering, the section over the flower appears overexposed (to me). Did you spot meter?

I don't have a clue what that means. I have been doing this for only about 3 weeks. The reason I post so much is to try different techniques, and learn. I shot it without a tripod and the day is severly overcast. I already planned to reshoot it when the breeze settles. I guess what I am really seeking advice on is composition, style, and subject, not so much technical. Thanks for pointing those issues out though, I will research them and try to incorporate in my next shoot.

Well you have a damn good eye for 3 weeks, Depth of Field (DOF) relates to the areas of the picture that are sharp. when you shoot macro your DOF is even shallower often within a few cm so any movement when handheld will cause issues.

With regard to the metering cameras usually have a few different modes of metering, spot metering refers to the ability to instruct the camera to meter on the exact spot you desire to meter the entire picture for. If you look above the weed (and to the right) in your picture you'll notice a tad of overexposure.

Overall a good eye, keep up the good work.

Thanks! Here is the original, I think I may have just overprocessed it. I have done that before too. My camera doesn't have metering (i don;t think). I have a Nikon 3200 (far from pro equiptment) but I wanted something smaller and less expensive to at least see if any talent was present.

Some of my stuff has sold already, and I get lots of support from friends/family. They are currently working on getting me a better camera.

Yes you did over process it a tad, the talent in there IMHO work on getting yourself a better camera but choose very carefully, then get used to the new cam by getting lots of practise.

I like your first shot alot better, minus the blur. I think if you were going to sell this, you need to reshoot it without the blur, definately takes away. The colors are just perfect, and the shallow DOF works, but that blur takes the effect away.
