    Again excellent tones and colour.

My one gripe with this is the radar dome and tree/bush sort of seems out of place to me, but the lines do lend themselves nicely to viewing the picture as the eye is lead to that area and then when they get there their allowed to roam to the far srtuctures and sky.

You captured a lovely mood in this picture.

I kind of like the radar dome in the picture, it blends well with the sky. I like how you angled the weathered warriors so that it leads the eye to it. Good job on the skies again as well...

The golf ball on the tee immediately pulled my eyes away from the metal posts (it's easy to get emotionally attached to these; they can almost take on human forms). I would not say it should not be there, although if this was the only shot of the warriors I would then say it should be removed. But in the context of a mini series I would definitely include it.
I especially like the way the warriors fade to mono in the far distance. Elsewhere the colours and tones are great.
This shot talks to me; the first one shouts with emotion.

Gary, I Iike this one. Somehow, the timbers are parts of something bigger here (it feels like the shot isn't only about them contrarily to the first picture). They work with the shore to create a scene with significant visual interest.

The fine tones in the sand and the textures on the timbers are great, there is a lot to look at. On the other hand, I think that the radar dome (or whatever it is) should have some colors in it (less color than the beach and the timbers but still a little colors). The sky in b&w is a very good choice and it works to add drama. However, since the radar dome is part of the land, it seems to me that it should be colorized a little. I think that it commands more attention right now in b&w than it would do otherwise.

    Gary,
There's not much I can say that would be different from what everyone else is saying. This has an old 'linen' postcard kind of feel to it, if you know what I mean. Excellent job. Can't wait to see more.

Very cool shot, Gary. I agree with the previous posters that the angle of the structures leading to the radar tower really brings a good element of depth to the shot. I'm not sure if I care for the way the image gets progressively desaturated, but that's a personal preference, and to be taken as such.
    Very nice shot.

I agree with the comments about the, as Tom said, "Golf Ball on a Tee" lol not helping the shot any. I tried taking it out and I did not feel it did much for improving. I think I will keep it as it was there and I think it is interesting to a degree. There was no color in it to begin with. In my version posted on my Website, I added a bit more color to the sand and trees in the distance and readjusted my post processing a bit.
Once again, thanks for the points and comments. They go a long way with me as I think over a photo and what can be done to improve. When I hear these comments and suggestions it keeps me in touch with "the unbiased eye"

I thought that the radar dome had meaning when I first saw the picture. Like the weathered warriors, were being replaced with a new more modern warrior. If you are working on a series, I like this version. IMO....

Greg, thats an interesting perspective on that. I have a friend who feels it lends itself to a sort of Sci-Fi feel and the warriors looking like aliens marching up on the shore. Neverthe less, I will leave it be. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it.

Thanks for commenting, Trog. I am happy to know what you think about it. I never expected it, but the Radar element is quite controversial.

This is a really interesting photo. For whatever it is worth, you have certainly captured the attention of a few people who wanted to share a few thoughts. I like the 3-D feel, the colors of the "warriors", as a person who uses reflections a lot, this hits home with me and I really like the reflections in the pools of water. I don't know what to make of the radar dome, I would like to see this image without it but as it stand this image has a Pink Floyd album cover feel to it, and that isn't all bad.

Good for you for experiementing with this image. I like it.

    Re: Weathered warriors 2

thanks for the words, Coastal. btw, I read your review of the XTi as I'm awaiting mine any day now. I had my eye on the Canon 5D for a while, but cannot justify the close to 3,000.00 for it now. I'm so itching to put the film down and finally having digital capture that i felt the XTi was good enough to get started. From all the reviews and tech reports I have browsed over, I think I'll be happy with it for a good while. Anxiously awaiting . . .
