    Mt. Rainier

This was taken at a place I go to shoot the mountain frequently. This shot has been in my files for a while but I dug it out last night and started using my new elements 5.0 on it.
Equalized, shadows lightened, and a bit of hue and satruation.

Great capture and post processing as well Frog. Good thing you dug this one out. It's a wall hanger for sure. The fence post and cloud in the upper left give it an almost 3D effect. A really great composed shot. The left post may have touch to much green in it.
I think I might have edited one of your pictures in the past, I hope I didn't offend you. Apologies if so....

    Re: Mt. Rainier

An overall good shot but to nitpick as I always do, the grass horizon looks slightly up on the right hand side. The look of the clouds is a little over-processed. I would tend to move past the fence to the top of the hill and slightly to the left. A long telephoto would also be helpful.

    Frog,

The mountain, clouds and sky are amazing.... It looks like a painting. Unforunately, the foreground is a big letdown in comparison. I would crop it out and turn the shot into a big panoramic.

    Re: Mt. Rainier

    Thankyou for the comments.
Greg its no problem as I hadn't made that clear and it seems to be acceptable here.
I thought the post to be a bit green too but then the post actually is greenish with mold/moss.
    TY, asdf!
Ronnoco, there are no tresspassing signs so I can't get to the top of that hill and then the tree would be gone too. I do have some shots from farther left which frames the moutain with a bush on the left and the same tree on the right.
GB, I've debated with myself over eliminating foreground and your point is well taken.
When I have more time I may try it though I also like that the photo shows the setting from which the view is taken by including the foreground.
If only ther were a few cows from the dairy there, eh.

Color is generally pretty good, does need to some level adjustment to balance the overall tones.

My biggest technical concern is that it seem very soft and over processed. Did you use any noise reduction or adjust the luminance at all?

I think cropping the fence out might help, unless you can do something with that unfortunate shadow line.

I feel it has quite a bit of possibility with some adjustments.

I like it. I think that with the "processed" look to the clouds, it will definitely get people's attention. It does have a surprising 3-D look to it. To reiterate other comments, the foreground is a bit uninspiring, but having been in similar situations what with your inability to get a different vantage point, I believe you made the best out of what you had. Nice shot. Just make sure you print it on a nice high gloss paper. Or matte. Or semi-gloss. How about art canvas?

i agree with drg that it looks a bit overprocessed. it has an interesting look to it, but not one that I expect from a photo.

    Re: Mt. Rainier

Hi, I really like this shot as a whole, The only minor things to me are the fence posts i find a little distracting from the amazing scene behind them and the foreground clouds seem to be "stuck on" somehow. These are minor things and are personal opinion not criticism! Loveit though! Well Done!

    Frog,

This is a difficult one I agree with the comments made on composition - however I do like the post processing - however I think a tad more contrast may make it pop more.

Have you tried standing right up against the fence to loose the posts but keep the foreground?

yes it looks fake.. not a painting but not a photograph.. the lines between photography and graphics artistry are being blurred more and more..

    Re: Mt. Rainier

It does look overly processed, but the effects are pleasing. I would suggest cropping out all but a small piece of the green foreground and clone out the remaining tops of the posts. This has an interesting look.
The "island" that is photography has been surely connected to the "continent" that is Art more than ever in the digital age. A good thing for sure.

    Re: Mt. Rainier

I like it just the way it is.

Sure there are a lot of other things you could do with this image (I think if has a bit of a grey cast) but that doesn't take away from the fact that this is a striking photo.

    Good work.

BTW I like the included foreground and think it adds "depth" to the viewer.

looking at this again, I would say too that i think the foreground as it is works well.
