Two Stone Posts B&W

This was taken at the Marine Park Nature Preserve. Wide angle zoom 19-35mm at about 24mm. fuji reala 100. Converted to b&w in Jasc psp8

Hi Gary,

I really like the textures in this image. I like the way you have not tried to centre the posts and how the path takes you through the photo but I wonder if cropping the right post has been detrimental to the image? I love the texture of the wire fence leading to the left post and I'm sure the B&W conversion has added a lot to this effect. Is that your shadow in the bottom left corner? I think maybe the flow of the path is interrupted by the shadow of the right post, but not a lot you can do about this but try a different time of day... Again - love the texture!

I was wondering about the shadows as well, was not sure if they added or detracted from the shot. Here is the uncropped version with shadows removed .

Nice photo, IMO. The textures and contrast are good, composition is good. I like the first one you posted best. First, the crop you performed helps. Second, the shadows should be retained. Without them, something doesn't look right. The one detractor shadow is your head (I think that's what it is) that seems to be on the lower left corner. I know that your original doesn't have this, but my primary criticism is that perhaps more of the right hand side should be shown, IMHO.

I really like this composition; one of your better shots (among many good ones I might add). The sky in the first looks a little grainy to me, and I'm not sure I like the border so much, but the shot itself is very good.

What caught my eye when I was at this location was the shadows being cast by the late afternoon sun, especially those being thrown by these posts. I agree that they should be retained( I will just clone out the shadow of my arm and head) as they were part of the reason I wanted to shoot this scene in the first place. Without them, the pic looks sort of surreal. I will take all things into consideration once I finalize this shot for a print.

Yes it was my shadow in the lower left. It was my head with my arm extended as I tried to stand away to avoid my whole shadow in the pic I should have just used the timer as the camera was set on the tripod, i could have just walked completey out of the scene. . . . I'm learning

I like this shot and I really like it with the shadows... while your shadow is distracting in the last part of the shot I kind of like it there... just tell people it's your signature.... *smile*
I think I pretty much agree with everyone else... the textures are great in this shot and the crop does improve it. You've done a good job on this.
