Two Cats - My new 20D

Hi, I found this site a short time ago and looks like alot of great stuff here. I just got my first SLR a canon 20D - with a 28-135mm lens. Here are some test shots i took of my cats. I edited them alittle with photoshop mostly contrast/darkness/black levels. I use photoshop alot and use it in most of my shots. Let me have it what do you think.

The last shot of the pipe is with my old kodak 5mp point and shoot - nothing to do with cats but i thought i would throw it in rather then make a new topic.

I have been an intern for 1.5 years at a tv station so dont worry about hurting my feelings hehe.

I think the first two are fairly ordinary. The first has some exposre and flash problems and the second is a little soft. They might be more effective at a lower eye-level angle with a more unusual pose or angle if possible. I think the non-cat photo is the most intriguging and might like to see several related photos in a portfolio reinforcing one another. Welcome tothe baord, I hope you'll show more.

Re: Two Cats - My new 20D

Those cats look to be good subjects, but what strikes me is the other one, the metal pipe thing, sort of a wow thing that gives a feeling of height or something, it would be a good picture of large size...yes...that it would be, poster sized...

The first cat one, it's a good picture, but the white thing (wall?) cutting across it is a bit distracting.

Thanks for the comments - Out of the three here i do like the pipes the best. I wish it was sharper all the way up to end but i guess it works. I do have some other images like this that i will post some time.

    Hey Mage,

It's always nice to get a very nice camera. While I don't have much to cratique on these images, I look forward to viewing your work.

    Cheers,
    Tim

    I love these!
Cats (to me) are such superb models. They're interesting and lovely to look at.
I love the last one; the angle and the dreamy sort of look to it.
