    Too much pink?

Here is another shot of my daughter shot with my new S3. I wanted to include the pink flowers in the background but did not want them to dominate the shot. How does the pink work? How is her skin tone too?

    Thanks

I'd move her a bit further away from the flowers, and use a smaller aperture. Blur them so they aren't quite so detailed.

What did you bounce your flash off of, because it looks like on-camera?

Cute daughter though, how do you like the s3?

I agree with Adina, and would hessitate to disagree with her in the first place. The BG just has to much info to be so sharp. Otherwise this is a lovely image of a very pretty young lady.

I turned the flash straight up and used the built in bounce feature. The flash was on the camera. The built in camera flash just does not do well up close..although I have had much more success with the camera set to manual, adjusting shutter to get correct exposre (when there is enough light) and shooting with the flash. My F100 was very nice set to "A" mode, (which is 1\60th sec) and just changing the f stop...this camera does not adjust as well in "A" mode.

I realy want to get out door portraits down cause there are so many people asking to photograph them and their kids.

I love the S3...at first it did not feel like the f100..but it is not the f100..so it took a couple of weeks to get use to it. I have been very happy with the battery consumption features it has. It realy is the best digital camera priced under $ 4000.

Only negative..but this is not with just this camera is the whole chip magnification factor...1.5 on this camera but that is with 95% of DSLR's.

    sorry to be so long.

Almo..thanks for the reply...you guys are right, I will open up next time. The problem is when I shoot in manual I have to stop down sometime to keep shutter speed where I fell comfortable...catch 22 in manual...!!! I like the ISO 200 with flash.

    Chris,

Your second one works for me alot better. Though it isn't all flowers in the back, the DOF is alot better and works.

    Nice shooting,

    Jared

Oh this is much nicer, and the pose is even better. Your BG is just out enough to not be distracting while still adding a very nice contrasting element to the image. WTG!

    Re: Too much pink?

The second shot is better because the bg is less a factor and more of just a bg. The first shot I like the look and pose and all, but as others said there should be distance between the subject and bg so it gets out of focus and from the light. You can still save the first one with some PS editing to minimize the bg.

CB ... First let me say that your daughter is adorable. She belongs in pink because you can see how girly she is. No way is there too much pink in the pic!

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that even though she is right on top of the flowers, in this instance i think it works! It's like that she is part of the overall beauty. If you had to pick one of these shots to frame.. its the first one, hands down. It's spicy, its prissy, its beauty and innocence and youth. She just fits right into that whole scene. It pops like the 2nd photo doesn't. To me, it's no different than if she was laying in a field of flowers... She is a flower! I love it!

The second one is nice, although your flash still seems to strong to me. Then again, my flash is collecting dust, soo...

    But still, cute kid

i like the shots - and i like the pink flowers a lot! never too much pink :]
but the flash is wayyyyy too bright. it makes it look like a snapshot to me.
id love to see this with lighting that is a little more natural :]

    Re: Too much pink?

I agree with Kit too. Your daughter is just adorable. I think she is a big flower herself standing out amongst the other flowers

The first photo is beautiful. Nice smile, nice pose. I think because she has a white dress, the pink bg brings her out (may be blurring the bg a bit more) .For the 2nd photo, I think the flash is too strong. I like a softer tone on children faces, and the flash took out the pink bg, which went very nice with your little princess.

I always wish I have a child to learn to take good shots of children. You are fortunate to have such gorgeous model.
