    In thought

My son is trying out for his freshmen football team and I've been going to some his practices to take some action shots of him. I took this shot during a quick 5-minute break at his first practice with full gear. He's got that look like "What did I get myself into". This is his first time playing tackle and right now he's got a starting spot at left offensive tackle. Just a proud dad.

    Homer,

Nice portrait photo of your son. He looks like he's had quite a workout. I'd like to see some of the action shots.

This is a nice shot of your son...the red stands out well against the neutral colors in the background. He definitely does have that expression on his face...heh.
I'm assuming he's holding his helmet there? I think this would have been stronger if we were able to see that...but that's just my opinion, others may feel differently.

a bit tight on the framing - it wouldve been better if we couldve seen the helmet hes holding. this would probably fit under the category of lifestyle shots.

    Nice picture.
Looks like he's been through a bit, his shirt looks torn up on the shoulders!

Please post some more over in the Sports forum, particularly if you have him in action.
But not just that, the pauses between the action are psrt of the sport too, and just as important.

    Re: In thought

Thanks everyone for the comments. I never really thought about the helmet, I was more focused on his expression. I do agree that it would look better with the helmet. This was taken half way through practice. Once practice was over and we were driving home he told me that he didn't think he was physically ready for this. I've been watching him practice since he started and not because he's my son but I think he's doing great and told him that. He's never played tackle football before and has earned himself a starting position as offensive tackle, though he had his heart set on defense.

If anyone is interested I have posted some action shots, not as much of my son, but shots I took during their practices in the sports photography forum. Take a look and tell me what you think.
